As one of several mallets that I use this beauty was purchased, for ten quid believe it or not, from a retiring stonemason. He in turn inherited Francis from his father. The age is, another believe it or not, in excess of one hundred years.
Richard. My great grandfather, John Baxter owned a stone mason shop in Huntingdon, England before he immigrated to Canada in early 1900. He married a local girl in Dorset, Woolland who was employed at the Churchill family's vickerage, Julia Elsworth. You can see his advertisement from 1900 on my picturetrail album under family ancestors. I hope to visit Dorset area soon. My great grandmother was born in Piddletrenthide. (now there's a mouthful) and my grandmother was born in Chesterton. Best, Candace Pfau
